1857 1C N-5 Small Date, BN 66 BN
An amazing Gem Proof! This is the last year of issue for Large cents and proofs are really rare. In fact, all proof Large Cents are rarities as the Mint didn’t market proof coins to collectors seriously until 1858. For the 1857 proof Large Cent, there are about 50 survivors in all grades. This specimen has been graded PR66 Brown by PCGS but it is very conservatively graded and there is considerable Mint Red color evident. It is one of the finest examples we have ever seen. CAC certified.
