The silver issues are rare in most grades, and \nreally rare in Gem condition. Above MS65 the rarity by condition starts. MS66 and MS67 silver type\ncoins are very rare. Above MS67 is the rarified air as far as condition goes. Here we have a \nphenomenal MS68 Liberty Seated half dime. This is the rarest of rare for any 19th Century silver \ntype coins. As far as Liberty Seated half dimes (1837-1873) go, in 35 years, PCGS has graded 23,157\ncoins. Of those, only 44 have been graded MS68 (and none higher). That’s one in 526, or .001%!!!!!!\nAnother issue is the time frame. This is 1862, right in the middle of the Civil War. At that time, few people \ncared about saving coins and few were saved. Gem Civil War coinage is rare. And for an 1862 half dime \nto survive as an MS68 is a downright miracle. This is a truly stunning coin. The strike is so sharp and perfect, \nit looks like a medal. The surfaces are mark-free and virtually perfect. The luster is bright and flashy with a \ntouch of peripheral patina. The eye appeal is off-the-charts. It’s hard to imagine that coins like these were \nin citizens pockets and used for buying and selling goods and services. But it’s not hard to imagine \na coin in someone’s pocket looking just like this right after it was minted, because this coin looks just like \nit was made yesterday! So if you like 19th Century silver type coins and want to “put away” a monster \ncoin…this is it\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"David Hall Rare Coins","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":46536649113789,"sku":"4381.68-38519617","price":12500.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/1439\/2846\/files\/38519617f_4766bf0d-3171-49ac-ab81-94b16ce91010.jpg?v=1780432757","url":"https:\/\/davidhall.com\/products\/4381-68-1862-h10c-38519617","provider":"David Hall Rare Coins","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
