1856 10C Small Date PR 65
|Type:||Type 3, Stars Obverse|
|Category:||Liberty Seated Dime (1837-1891)|
Deeply mirrored Gem Proof! Pre-1860 proofs are all very rare. The Mint didn’t really start marketing proofs to collectors until 1858. Prior to that proofs were a made to order item and there were very few collectors in this country. For the 1856 Liberty Seated dime, a mere 50 proofs were originally minted. Today, it is estimated that only 30 to 40 examples survive in all grades, including very few Gems. This Gem is one of only four examples graded PR65 by PCGS in the past 32 years. The surfaces are deeply mirrored and the eye appeal is outstanding.
