Description

Very fresh and original Gem! The earlier )pre-1900) $2.5 Liberties were minted in very limited Quantities as the denomination wasn’t very useful in commerce. And collectors at the time were more interested in cents, and silver coins so not very many $2.5 Libs were saved. Today, $2.5 Liberties are one of the most difficult of the generic gold issues to find. Indeed, to our Knowledge there hasn’t been any $2.5 Liberty hoards found in Europe. The 1878 $2.5 Liberty is a scarce coin in all grades and a very rare coin in Gem condition. This specimen is a totally original Gem. The surfaces are very clean and mark-free. Th strike is full in every way. What is really great about this specimen is the iridescent original luster and color…off-the-charts eye appeal
