Description
One of the finest known! The early (pre-1834) U.S. gold coins had a little too much gold compared to the international gold/silver ratio so not many circulated in the U.S., and many were exported for melting. Today, survivors are very rare, especially in Gem condition! This spectacular 1806 is a totally original Gem…super clean surfaces, and amazing original luster and color. PCGS has never graded an example higher. This is definitely a “forever” coin…a coin for the ages…an ultimate put away coin.
