Absolutely gorgeous! All three dollar gold pieces are rare in all grades. This denomination was not popular, and few were made and fewer still saved. For the 1880, a mere 1000 coins were originally struck, so even in the low grades, this date is rarely seen. This is a glorious example. The surfaces are clean and semi-proof like...and the strike is razor sharp. The color is beyond beautiful…a glowing iridescent gold. A spectacular three!
