Gold Commemoratives (1903-1926)
Another commemorative category is that of early 20th century gold coins, consisting of 11 different varieties of commemorative gold dollars minted from 1903 through 1922, the 1915-S Panama-Pacific quarter eagle and the 1926 Sesquicentennial quarter eagle, and, not often collected due to the rarity, the immense $50 round and octagonal pieces minted in 1915 for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition. All of these early gold coins are scarce, and some of them, particularly, the 1904 and 1905 Lewis and Clark gold dollars and the 1915-S Panama-Pacific $50 pieces, are rare.
