Description

Spectacular fresh luster white Gem! This is definitely one of the long term major key dates of the 20th Century. For the Washington quarter series, the key dates (in order of rarity) are the 1932-D, 1932-S, and 1936-D. There were a lot of people collecting Washington quarters at the time, and these were the three issues they chased. It was in the middle of the Great Depression and there wasn’t a lot of extra money available, so new coins were not saved as avidly as they would be in the Post-War era. For the 1936-D specifically, it seemed to be the one issued for which Uncirculated examples were just not saved. Back in the day, even XF and AU specimens were premium coins…high grades were truly hard to find. This beauty is one of the highest grade ever given this issue by PCGS. In fact, in 38 years, PCGS has never graded a MS68. This is a mark-free Gem with pure white original luster.
