Description

A miracle Gem!!!!! The early (pre-1835) U.S. gold coins are the classics of the U.S. gold coin market. Let’s put it this way. The two types of gold coins JP Morgan collected were Territorial gold and early U.S. $5 pieces! And the gold content of U.S. coins was lowered in 1834, so nearly all of the early issues hit the melting pot as they were worth more melted than their face value. Today, these pieces of early American financial history are rare in any grade and ultra rare in Uncirculated condition, bordering on impossible to find in Gem condition. This gorgeous Gem MS65 is one of the few surviving Gems of this date (including all varieties). In 37 years, PCGS has only graded one higher. And note that the MS65 auction record is $253,000. This beauty has super clean, mark-free surfaces. The strike is amazing…all 13 stars have 100% full detail. And the hair, feathers and claws are sharp and full. The color and luster are rich and original. The eye appeal is so strong we’re pretty sure JP Morgan would approve
